Crochet Rose Bag

crochet rose bag clutchCrochet Rose bag, because the first signs of the weather turning are here and I am ready to embrace some spring florals!

Although the days in the U.K. are still short and a bit grey, there are signs that spring is almost upon us.  The Florists are selling early tete-a-tete and hyacinths in their bright colours and most importantly (well in my world!) the shops have got rid of their old, drab Winter sale stock and are now bursting with bright colours and florals!

From what I can tell, floral is a big trend this season! Kate Spade has some beautiful bags – I am lusting after this gorgeous tote…!

And I spotted this beautiful Kate Spade leather rose bag and it reminded me of this beautifully decorated crochet rose bag I made a few years ago.

So, with both bags firmly out of my price range, I got my thinking cap on and decided to create my own, new take on a crochet rose bag!

It’s a really simple idea – take a plain, cheap bag (or one you can easily remove the detail from), mine was a plain black clutch bag that I already owned and had seen better days…

then make lots of beautiful crochet roses and a few crochet leaves (I used ‘Red Wine’, Paintbox Cotton DK to make my roses and some scraps of green yarn), grab a glue gun and off you go!

A super quick, on-trend, crochet rose bag at minimal cost and you can be sure that it is a one of a kind! I like it because it isn’t twee or cutesy 🙂
