Free crochet rainbow pattern

Here is a cute little free crochet rainbow pattern, complete with little clouds!
Materials

3.5mm hook
DK weight yarn in your choice of colours (you don’t have to follow traditional colours with this one!)

Abbreviations

Ch – chain
Sk – skip
Sl – slip
St(s) – stitch(es)
Dc – double crochet
Htr – half treble

This pattern is written in UK crochet terminology.

Rainbow

Keep right side facing towards you throughout
1. Ch7, skip 2ch (counts as first htr throughout), make 2htr into third st from hook, make 3htr in every st to end. Fasten off and weave in ends (15sts)
2. Join in top of second st from previous row, ch2, make 1htr in same st, *1htr, 2htr* repeat five times, 1htr. Fasten off and weave in ends (19sts)
3. Join in top of second st from previous row, ch2, make 1htr in same st, *1htr, 1htr, 2htr* repeat to end. Fasten off and weave in ends (24sts)
4. Join in top of second st from previous row, ch2, make 1htr in same st, *1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 2htr* repeat five times, 1htr, 1htr. Fasten off and weave in ends (29sts)
5. Join in top of second st from previous row, make 1htr in same st, *1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 2htr* repeat 5 times, 1htr, 1htr. Fasten off and weave in ends (34sts)
6. Join in top of second st from previous row, make 1htr in same st, *1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 2htr* repeat 5 times, 1htr, 1htr. Fasten off and weave in ends (39sts)
7. Join in top of second st from previous row, make 1htr in same st, *1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 1htr, 2htr* repeat 5 times, 1htr, 1htr. Fasten off and weave in ends (44sts)

Cloud

I used this pattern but it is originally written in US terms so I have translated it to UK terms here.

Keep right side facing towards you throughout
1. Ch8, 3dc in second ch from hook, 1dc in next 5ch, 3dc in last st.
2. Working along opposite side of chain (the base), 1dc in next 5ch, slst to join to first st
3. Ch1, 1dc in same st, 5htr in next st, skip 1 st, 1dc, skip 1st, *5htr, 1dc* twice, skip 2sts, 8htr, skip 2sts, slst to join first st. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Pin clouds to the end of each rainbow and sew into place.
