Materials

Red DK yarn (I used Rowan Handknit Cotton DK in shade, Rosso)

Green DK yarn (I used James C Brett Cotton DK in shade )

3mm crochet hook

Small amount of toy stuffing

Abbreviations

This pattern is written using UK crochet terminology.

MR – Magic ring

Ch – chain

St – stitch

Sts – stitches

Ss – slip stitch

Dc – double crochet

Htr – half treble

htr2tog – half treble 2 together

Free crochet strawberry pattern

1. Using red DK yarn, make a MR, ch2, 5 htr into MR, join to top of ch2 with ss, pull MR closed (6 sts)
2. Ch2, htr, 2htr into next st, 1htr across next 2 sts, 2htr in next st, join to top of ch2 with a ss (8 sts)
3. Ch2, htr, htr, 2htr into next st, 1htr in next 3 sts, 2htr in next st, join to top of ch2 with a ss (10 sts)
4. Ch2, 1htr in next 4 sts, 2htr in next st, 1htr in next 4 sts, 2htr in next st, join to top of ch2 with a ss (12 sts)
5. Ch2, 2htr in next stitch, *htr, 2htr* repeat from *to* 5 times, join to top of ch2 with a ss (18 sts)
6. Ch2, htr, *htr2tog across next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * 7 times, join to top of ch2 with a ss (10 sts)
7. Stuff strawberry with toy stuffing.
8. Ch2, htr, *htr2tog across the next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * 4 times, join to top of ch2 with a ss (6 sts)

Leaves and stalk

1. Make a MR, *ch4, ss into first chain from hook, 1dc into next 2 chs, ss into MR*. Repeat from *to* 4 times.
2. Ch4, 1ss in first chain from hook, 1ss in next 2 chs. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing on.
3. Pull the last ss worked chain through middle of the MR. This is the ‘stalk’. Pull the MR tight.
Sew the leaves and stalk to the top of the strawberry and enjoy!
