Handmade Christmas decorations are a wonderful craft project and it’s not too late to start! I love decorating my home for Christmas and like to be ready as close to 1st December as possible – I know, there are plenty of people who are entitled to their opinion that it all starts to early but I like to get my ‘moneys worth’ from my lovely real Christmas tree and the start of Advent means I think it is fair license to get festive!
I try to do something different as an advent calendar each year. One of my favorites is this mini sock calendar I made a few years ago using the amazing Little Cotton Rabbits mini Christmas stocking pattern. It is super easy and perfect for even a beginner knitter who fancies a bit of a challenge. There are still 27 days left so even if you can complete one sock a night you’ll be finished in time!
Another idea based on the same theme, but requiring a lot less effort is to add a number to a selection of mismatched socks (and there are lots of these in my house!) and to hang them on a string of ribbon with mini pegs. So clever!
Or, look at these amazing little boxes hung on a twig branch tree! So clever!
